[ESPN] Let Michu be Michu on 05:53 - Oct 17 with 2607 views | Zut_Alors | While i love Michu and really hope he does get to hold down a spot in the national side, this article is a little bit silly really. The suggestion that Del Bosque should increase Michu's attacking qualities by playing another striker in front of him is very unlikely, imo. For a side that has recently played without an out-and-out striker at all, to then go and play Michu and another all out striker is going to change their system completely. If that recent system hadn't been successful then maybe it might be worth a shot, but this is a side that has won the last 2 european championships and a world cup. Spain are in the fortunate position of being able to pick players to trial their suitability to a proven system. If you're not cut out for it, then it's on to the next wonderkid. EDIT: Just to clarify, i'm not suggesting that one game is enough to determine whether Michu is suited to the Spanish national team's system, i actually think he could be great for them. But Del Bosque could possibly use him as an impact sub playing second striker if spain needs goals late in a match. I think this will be how he ultimately ends up being used for Spain once he becomes more widely known and people get to understand his playing style better. [Post edited 17 Oct 2013 11:48]

Michu's best position is constantly up for grabs and very much up to individual opinion. The best and most trusted opinion everybody's got to go with is the King of Denmark. The same guy that still now struggles to know for sure. My opinion is Laudrup is using him just right in thMichu isMichut he's pickingMichu is certain teams to play him in either midfield or up front. The 18 goals he scored last season were pretty much split between the two positions so it's not fair to use that argument, as the author of the article did. Michu has been a lovely problem for us in some ways because he just doesn't have a traditional position. I don't believe for one minute we've built a team around him though quite the opposite, we've struggled to fit him in. Del Bosque, of no striker fame, I would've thought would've found it easy to place him. Michu could spearhead that midfield 6 of his European Championships formation. They'd get him all in that formation. | |
